Board Governance Overview with Special Emphasis on Audit Oversight Obligations
This program is designed for those who currently serve, or are interested in serving, as a director on a nonprofit board. It would also be helpful to nonprofit staff in obtaining resources to educate directors serving on their Boards.  This program will provide a general overview of the nuts and bolts of nonprofit board governance, including the New York State and Federal law framework and terminology for nonprofits. It will also offer an overview of certain practical considerations for and duties of directors serving on nonprofit boards, including those required under the New York Nonprofit Revitalization Act, with a special emphasis on conflicts of interest (including related party transactions), audit oversight obligations and whistleblower obligations under the Act, as well as certain IRS governance initiatives and reporting requirements.

How To Comply with the Newest Employment Law Changes

This session will review the proposed changes to the federal overtime rules and the impact of such changes on nonprofit organizations’ compensation systems, the new State requirements for accommodating transgender employees in the workplace, employers’ obligations to employees who are affected by the opioid crisis, the new election law and voting time leave rules, and the changes to workplace conduct standards.

Turning Data into Dollars: Moving Beyond the Numbers
This session will focus on the transformational process used to move organizations from a charity mindset to one of sustainable investment.
